TITLE: BEFORE WE RETURN TO DUST
ARTIST: REX OMONIGHO
GENRE: Slow Christian Hymn / Gospel Prayer
DURATION: Approximately 3 minutes
TEMPO: 58–60 BPM
VOCALS: Deep, mature male bass voice with powerful, emotional soprano choir
INSTRUMENTS: Soft piano 🎹, gentle strings, subtle violin, and warm bass. No heavy drums, no dance beat, and no long instrumental intro.
INTRO — DEEP MALE BASS
(Soft piano begins. Sing slowly, almost crying.)
Sometimes, we forget
That life is very short.
We keep anger in our heart,
And think about small fights
Again and again.
But one day, everything will end,
And we will lie inside the grave.
No more fighting, no more words,
Only silence in the dust.
VERSE 1 — DEEP, EMOTIONAL BASS
Why do we hate the ones we love?
Why do we push away our friends?
When all the things we fight about
Will mean nothing in the end.
A brother cries, a sister weeps,
Yet pride won't let us make amends.
Oh, Lord, please teach our hearts to love
Before our earthly journey ends.
CHORUS — BASS LEAD WITH POWERFUL SOPRANO CHOIR
Before we return to dust,
Let us forgive, let us love.
Lay down your anger, lay down your pride,
Let the love of God be our guide.
Before we close our eyes,
Before we say our last goodbye,
Make peace today, don't wait too long,
For life is short, but God is strong.
VERSE 2 — BASS VOICE, ALMOST CRYING
The rich will leave their gold behind,
The poor will leave their pain.
The king and servant sleep alike,
Beneath the falling rain.
So why should we destroy our peace?
Why let our hearts turn cold?
The love we give, the good we do,
Is worth far more than gold.
BRIDGE — SOFT PIANO, SOPRANO ANSWERING
MALE BASS: Lord, forgive the hate inside us.
SOPRANO CHOIR: Teach us to love again.
MALE BASS: Heal the wounds we hide in silence.
SOPRANO CHOIR: Wash away our pain.
MALE BASS: Before our final breath, dear Jesus,
CHOIR: Let Your mercy set us free.
ALL VOICES: Help us love one another
As You have loved us eternally.
FINAL CHORUS — POWERFUL, TEARFUL HARMONY
Before we return to dust,
Let us forgive, let us love.
No more hatred, no more pride,
Let the Lord walk by our side.
Before we close our eyes,
Before we say our last goodbye,
Make peace today, don't wait too long,
For life is short, and God is love.
OUTRO — DEEP BASS, SOFT PIANO
(Slowly, almost whispering.)
Oh, Lord… teach us to forgive.
Teach us to love while we still live.
Huuuuuuummmmmmmm…
Before we return to dust…
Amen.
