(Gentle guitar strums)
Oya, listen to your brother
From Honorable Ben, with love
Umunna, Bende, hear me now
It is time for us to heal
I look at Item, I see the beauty in your eyes
Beyond the politics, beneath the golden skies
I brought the future home, I went the extra mile
Just to see my people wear a peaceful smile
Why we dey fight when we should dey build?
Our land is blessed, our destiny fulfilled
No more propaganda, let the bad blood die
We are one people, hold your heads up high
Oh Item, my people, I love you back to back
Let’s leave the noise behind, stay on the track
One mind, one voice, let us do the needful thing
To the progress of our land, let us all sing
Oh Item, my people, I love you back to back
Let’s leave the noise behind, stay on the track
To the leaders, to the elders, to the PGs in the light
Come together, use your wisdom, do what is right
That University is ours, a treasure for the young
Let the anthem of our progress be the song that is sung
See, monkey can still wear clothes, if we organize
Let’s stop the criticism, open up your eyes
I stand with Bende, I stand with Umunna too
Everything I do, I do it all for you
Oh Item, my people, I love you back to back
Let’s leave the noise behind, stay on the track
One mind, one voice, let us do the needful thing
To the progress of our land, let us all sing
Oh Item, my people, I love you back to back
Let’s leave the noise behind, stay on the track
Put the politics aside, defend the soil we tread
Let’s walk in unity, by the spirit we are led
No dulling, no wahala, let the love flow free
We are the architects of our own history
Oh Item, my people, I love you back to back
Let’s leave the noise behind, stay on the track
One mind, one voice, let us do the needful thing
To the progress of our land, let us all sing
I love you all, Item, Bende, Umunna
From Honorable Ben, it is peace and love
One voice, one future
Ehen, let the love shine through
(Fade out with soft talking drum)
