(Soft palm-wine guitar melody)
Chale, the road was long
The journey has reached its home
Sleep well, John Quarshie- FANTHOMAS
Born on the first of January, nineteen sixty
A New Year's dawn, a life beginning bright
From Domi Anglican, through Atomic school days
You walked your path with steady, quiet light
You went to seek a better life in Nigeria.
But back to Ghana you returned when tides did shift ( Ghana Must Go )
In eighty-three, you stood your ground and held your hands
To build your home, you gave your life a gentle lift
Rest well, John Quarshie Attigah Junior.
Your spirit flows like water to the sea
Born on a Sunday, you return on Sunday's grace
Back to the arms of God, where you are free
We will remember you, always in our hearts
A man of truth, a pillar in the light
Professional driver, voice of the University halls
You steered the wheels for Professor Sefa Dede and other Professors.
Through all the years of sickness and all the heavy calls
You kept the course until the very end of day
Though illness came to test you in twenty-twenty
You stood six years against the rolling tide
Now, your five children and Attigah family stand in plenty
Of memories of the love you kept inside
Rest well, John Quarshie Attigah Junior
Your spirit flows like water to the sea
Born on a Sunday, you return on Sunday's grace
Back to the arms of God, where you are free
We will remember you, always in our hearts
A man of truth, a pillar in the light
Six years of struggle, then the curtain falls
Sunday to Sunday, the circle is complete
Your work is finished now, you heard the final calls
Rest now, dear brother, make your journey sweet
Farewell, John, rest in the peace you earned
Your children hold the torch that you have lit
(Guitar fades out slowly)
Sleep in peace, we never will forget
Rest well, John Quarshie Attigah Junior .
