(Soft talking drum pulse)
(Sighs)
Oh Mpa, the sky is heavy today
We carry your light in our hearts forever
Rest well, Ezinna Bernard
Ezinna Bernard Oleamanam Okoroafor
The path you walked is etched in gold
Your love was a river that never ran dry
A story of grace that will always be told
Rejoice is weeping, she calls out your name
Thinking of the laughter, the warmth of the sun
Ebere is searching for your face in the crowd
Knowing the race you were running is done
Oh Mpa, our guiding star, we miss you so
Olivia, Jesse, Nathan feel the hollow blow
From Umuibeleche to the hearts in the hall
We honor the greatest, the pride of us all
Rest now in peace, in the arms of the King
To the legacy, Mpa, we forever will cling
Olivia is asking why you had to go
Jesse and Nathan, they hold on so tight
They miss the stories, they miss the sweet songs
They miss how you guided them into the light
Rejoice remembers the vows that you kept
She walks through the house and she feels you still there
Ebere stands steady, though eyes are all red
Sending a whisper to heaven in prayer
Umuejiogu is mourning their son
The soil of the land knows your name
Though the silence is heavy and cold
Your ember has started a beautiful flame
Oh Mpa, our guiding star, we miss you so
Olivia, Jesse, Nathan feel the hollow blow
From Umuibeleche to the hearts in the hall
We honor the greatest, the pride of us all
Rest now in peace, in the arms of the King
To the legacy, Mpa, we forever will cling
Sleep well, Mpa Bernard
Rejoice, Ebere, the children will carry you on
Okoroafor family, stand strong
(Fade out with soft marimba)
Amen, amen, rest in peace
