(Reggae rhythm with steady bassline and crisp hi-hats)
Yeah, blessings to the earth
Respect to the foundation
Listen to the message in the breeze
One love, one mission
Evergreen is the way we live and breathe
We have got a very big task, don't you leave
To work on my brothers and my sisters too
To the parents and the children, it is all up to you
The task is calling, it is urgent today
To clear the path and pave the way
We are stewards of the land, that is the plan
Working hand in hand across the golden sand
Plant the trees and maintain the green
Keep it looking fresh, keep the vision clean
Plant the trees and maintain the green
It’s the greatest beauty that you’ve ever seen
Jah Almighty gave us examples from the start
Just in the beginning of this transit journey of the heart
Looking at the mountains and the valleys so wide
Where the spirit of the forest has nowhere to hide
He gave us the blueprints, he gave us the seed
Everything we wanted, everything we need
So why do we stumble? Why do we stray?
Let’s get back to the earth in a natural way
Plant the trees and maintain the green
Keep it looking fresh, keep the vision clean
Plant the trees and maintain the green
It’s the greatest beauty that you’ve ever seen
The journey was beautiful, nearly everywhere
It was shining green with a light in the air
With the rest of the colors blooming so bright
Very beautiful looking, such a wonderful sight
But mankind came in this transit journey fast
Using up the ground like the nature wouldn't last
So the green is disappearing right before our eyes
It’s time to wake up, it’s time to be wise
We see the concrete rising where the flowers used to grow
We need to slow it down, let the wisdom flow
Replant the hope, nurture every shoot
Go deep to the soil, dig down to the root
It’s a legacy for the ones who follow behind
For the children of the future, for all of mankind
Let’s cultivate the rhythm of the wind and the rain
And wash away the sorrow, and heal every pain
Plant the trees and maintain the green
Keep it looking fresh, keep the vision clean
Plant the trees and maintain the green
It’s the greatest beauty that you’ve ever seen
Maintain the green
Keep it growing, keep it flowing
Yes, for the children
For the parents, for the brothers and sisters
One love, one earth
Maintain the green
(Fade out with steady bass and percussion)
