(Deep steady bass line, slow one-drop drum beat)
Yeah…
Domi people, make we gather together…
Family, friends, everybody…
This is a tribute to a man who walked his journey with dignity.
Born January 1st, 1960 —
New Year's Day!
(Backing vocals: New Year! New life!)
John Quarshie Attigah…
(Backing: John Quarshie!)
From Domi… to Legon…
From Ghana… to Nigeria… and back home…
And on Sunday, September 27th, 2026…
(Backing: Sunday… Sunday…)
His earthly assignment was complete.
(Backing: Assignment complete!)
January morning, nineteen-sixty,
A New Year child came into this world.
Domi Anglican Primary, that's where the young man started his road.
Atomic L/A Middle School, learning the lessons, building his way.
With hope in his heart and strength in his soul, he faced tomorrow.
He walked the path that the elders laid down for him to see,
Every footstep a testament to the man he was meant to be.
From the green earth of Domi to the halls of higher learning,
He kept the fire of purpose and his spirit burning.
Assignment complete, the road has come to an end.
Rest now, father, teacher, brother, and friend.
The work you did is etched in stone and sky,
We bid you peace as the river runs dry.
Assignment complete, you fought the good fight,
Now walk in the grace of the everlasting light.
Assignment complete, you've finished the race,
Returning home to the Father’s embrace.
Legon was calling, he answered the sound with grace,
Moving through life at his own steady pace.
Through Ghana’s valleys and Nigeria’s heat,
He never stepped back, he would never retreat.
Providing for all with a hand that was open and kind,
Leaving the worries of the world far behind.
He taught us that value is found in the way that we live,
And in all of the love that we gather and give.
The journey was long but he held his head high,
Under the vastness of the Caribbean sky.
Oh, the Sunday silence, the day that you chose to depart,
Leaving a heaviness here in the chambers of every heart.
But tears are just rain that will water the seeds you have sown,
In the lives that you touched, in the love that has grown.
Sleep soundly now, your service is done,
Beneath the glow of a setting sun.
We look at the timeline, sixty-six years of your grace,
Seeing the kindness reflected in every face.
Your legacy lives in the stories we share tonight,
Guiding our weary spirits toward the light.
You were the anchor, the steady, the calm in the storm,
Keeping the household together, keeping the spirit warm.
We won't say goodbye, just 'til we meet again,
Rest in the silence, away from the pain.
Assignment complete…
(Assignment complete…)
Rest now, John…
(Rest in peace…)
The work is done.
(The work is done…)
Journey home now.
(Return to Zion…)
Peace.
(Fade out with bass and single guitar pluck)
