*TITLE: TJOO TJOO - THE CRY OF WOMEN*
*[Intro - Soft guitar, saxophone weeping]*
Hmmmmm... heeee... Oh Mother...
Tjoo tjoo... tjoo tjoo...
*[Verse 1]*
Tjoo tjoo, a cry of deep sorrow
Women are oppressed, they cry day and night
It is weeping, it is the grinding of teeth
The world is silent, there is no one listening
*[Chorus - Soulful, backing vocals crying]*
The blood of women is spilling, all across Africa 🩸
The blood of women is spilling, the whole world can see it
Tell me, where did things go wrong? We ask, where did it go wrong?
Who have we wronged? Tell us, who have we wronged?
Tjoo tjoo help us! (Please help!)
Tjoo tjoo help us! (Mother help us!)
Tjoo tjoo help us! (Father help us!)
*[Verse 2]*
The child is crying, her mother is crying
The man has turned his back, the family is broken
We were once the hope of the nation
Like flowers of the wild, now we are being trampled upon
*[Bridge - Soft, painful whisper like Tuku]*
Mother, I am your child
Don't leave me crying in the darkness
Father, hold my hand
I have fallen, I have fallen into loneliness
*[Chorus - Louder, full Afro-Jazz band]*
The blood of women is spilling, all across Africa
The blood of women is spilling, a cry that never ends
Where did things go wrong? Oh God, where did it go wrong?
Who have we wronged? We ask, who have we wronged?
Tjoo tjoo help us! (Africa help us!)
Tjoo tjoo help us! (People help us!)
*[Outro - Saxophone fades, voice breaking]*
Tjoo... tjoo...
A cry of sorrow...
Tjoo... help us...
Hmmm... Mother...
