Oh, we gather here today in memory
Of a leader, a father, brother uncle once a guiding light PC Francis Amara Korvaya Gbondo.
Song done by wife Edna Gbondo known as Tewo Tewo Gbondo on behalf of the Gbondo family in Bo and in Yawei Chiefdom
It was October twelfth in the year 2025; the silence fell
At Bo Government Hospital, we said farewell
The Paramount Chief of Yawei, the man we knew
Chief Francis Amara Korvaya Gbondo, whom we knew
The Yawei Chiefdom and the family feel thy space
Where once you stood with dignity and grace
Your legacy remains within these rolling hills
In every heart your memory still lives
Rest now, Chief Gbondo, in the arms of the King
To the gates of glory, your soul took wing
Thank You Jesus for the time we shared
For the wisdom shown and how you truly cared
Rest now, Chief Gbondo, your work on earth is done
In the presence of the Father, shining like the sun
Glory, glory, to the One who guides us home
Chief Francis, you will never be forgotten
One year has passed since you laid down your crown
Across the Yawei lands, in every town
You walked with honour, you led with a steady hand
Bringing peace and progress to all the land
We miss your voice, Daddy we miss the steady way
You helped us through the trials of the day
But God has called you to a higher height
Out of the shadows and into His marvellous light
Yes Lord, we trust in Your sovereign plan
Even when we do not fully understand
Rest now, Chief Gbondo, in the arms of the King
To the gates of glory, your soul took wing
Thank You Jesus for the time we shared
For the wisdom shown and how you truly cared
Rest now, Chief Gbondo, your work on earth is done
In the presence of the Father, shining like the sun
Glory, glory, to the One who guides us home
Chief Francis Gbondo you are never left alone
Though the tears may fall like morning rain
Your faith in God washed away the pain
You were a pillar, a chief among the best
Now it is time for you to take your rest
Praise Him, for the life that was lived so well
Stories of your kindness, we will always tell
Amen, amen, let the spirit rise
As you find your home beyond the painted skies
So tonight we light a candle for your soul Chief Gbondo
Knowing that the Shepherd has made you whole
Your children and your people, we carry on
Inspired by the path you walked upon
Chief Francis Amara Korvaya Gbondo, sleep tight
Safe in the shelter of the morning light
We say goodbye, but only for a little while
Remembering your strength and remembering your smile
Rest now, Chief Gbondo, in the arms of the King
To the gates of glory, your soul took wing
Thank You Jesus for the time we shared
For the wisdom shown and how you truly cared
Rest now, Chief Gbondo your work on earth is done
In the presence of the Father, shining like the sun
Glory, glory, to the One who guides us home
Chief Francis, you are never left alone
Hallelujah, the victory is won
Chief Francis, rest until the day is done
We love you, we miss you, sleep in peace
Your journey finds its sweet, eternal release
Amen Amen.
