(Dholak rhythm starts)
Yeah, the coastal breeze, the city of joy
From the shores of the Indian Ocean to the heart of the people
Mombasa, we shine bright.
Mombasa, the city of leisure and fun
Where the sun sets gold when the day is done
We celebrate the leaders who pave the way
Leading us forward to a brand new day
Sultan Joho, the champion we know
Bringing the progress, helping us grow
Defender of the Coast, voice for the weak
It’s the vision and the future that we seek.
Oh Mombasa, city of life and pride
With the best of leaders standing by our side
From the heat of the street to the blue of the sea
Building a future for you and for me
Sultan Joho, Simba of the coast
The leader that we truly love the most
Abdulswamadi, our governor today
Keeping the peace in the Mombasa way.
Abuu Joho, lifting the youth and the mothers too
So many opportunities provided for you
We’re proud of the vision, we’re proud of the plan
Serving the people across all the land
Governor Abdulswamadi, five years more
Opening wide every promising door
Stability, peace, and development too
Everything we needed, he brought it through.
Oh Mombasa, city of life and pride
With the best of leaders standing by our side
From the heat of the street to the blue of the sea
Building a future for you and for me
Sultan Joho, Simba of the coast
The leader that we truly love the most
Abdulswamadi, our governor today
Keeping the peace in the Mombasa way.
Kachiri, sunflowers, and fresh madafu
These are the treasures that belong to you
Sultan Joho, moving to the national stage
Writing a chapter on a brand new page
Abuu Joho, the senator in sight
Leading our city with all of his might
This is our choice, the path that we take
For every dream that we want to make.
So welcome to Kenya, welcome to the bay
Where the spirit of progress is here to stay
From the elders to the youth, we stand as one
Under the light of the Mombasa sun
We honor the work, we honor the soul
Keeping our city as the ultimate goal
Together we rise, together we stand
Moving forward in this beautiful land.
Oh Mombasa, city of life and pride
With the best of leaders standing by our side
From the heat of the street to the blue of the sea
Building a future for you and for me
Sultan Joho, Simba of the coast
The leader that we truly love the most
Abdulswamadi, our governor today
Keeping the peace in the Mombasa way.
Mombasa, our home, our heart
A brand new story, a brand new start
Sultan Joho, Abdulswamadi
Leading us on to destiny
Yeah, Mombasa, the city of joy
(Music fades with tabla beats)
