INTRO — NYABINGHI DRUM / DEEP BASS]

Jah...
Rastafari...
Brothers and sisters in the ghettos...
Comrades at the bases...
Come...
Let us visit the market.
Dr. Bawumia says—
“Sɛ ɛdwa bɛso a,
ɛfiri anɔpa.”
CROWD:
ƐFIRI ANƆPA!
LEAD:
Again!
Sɛ ɛdwa bɛso a—
CROWD:
ƐFIRI ANƆPA!
LEAD:
Very well...
But this market
did not open yesterday.

You had the morning—
CROWD:
WE SAW THE GOODS!
LEAD:
You had the afternoon—
CROWD:
WE SAW THE GOODS!
LEAD:
Eight years in government—
CROWD:
WE SAW THE GOODS!
Morning passed...
Afternoon passed...
And time opened the basket.
LEAD:
What was inside?
CROWD:
BRING THE RECORD!

Market! Market!
The goods were on display!
Morning came—
CROWD:
WE SAW THEM!
Afternoon came—
CROWD:
WE SAW THEM!
Eight years—
CROWD:
WE SAW THEM!
LEAD:
Now you are coming
back to the market—
CROWD:
WHAT ARE YOU COMING TO SELL?

Time opened the basket.
The economy was there.
The promises were there.
The galamsey fight was there.
The allegations of corruption
were there.
Debt...
Inflation...
Hardship...
Promises made,
and questions about
promises delivered.
LEAD:
Don't hide the basket!
CROWD:
OPEN IT!
LEAD:
Don't hide the record!
CROWD:
BRING IT!
LEAD:
Let Ghana examine it!
CROWD:
LET THE PEOPLE JUDGE!

Sɛ ɛdwa bɛso a—
CROWD:
ƐFIRI ANƆPA!
LEAD:
But you had the morning!
CROWD:
WE SAW THE GOODS!
LEAD:
You had the afternoon!
CROWD:
WE SAW THE GOODS!
LEAD:
Eight years!
CROWD:
WE SAW THE GOODS!
LEAD:
So what are you bringing
back to the market?
CROWD:
WHAT ARE YOU COMING TO SELL?

Once upon a time,
inside the same political tradition,
they spoke about cassava
taken to the market.
Today the metaphor returns.
The cassava has spent time
before the people.
The skin has been examined.
The inside has been examined.
The smell has been examined.
Time has tested the merchandise.
LEAD:
And the song asks—
If the cassava is rotten—
CROWD:
WHO WILL BUY?
LEAD:
If the merchandise
has already been rejected—
CROWD:
WHO WILL BUY?
LEAD:
Take it back to the same market?
CROWD:
WHO WILL BUY?

Jah...
No insult.
No anger.
Bring the promises.
CROWD:
BRING THE RECORD!
LEAD:
Bring the figures.
CROWD:
BRING THE RECORD!
LEAD:
Bring the eight years.
CROWD:
BRING THE RECORD!
LEAD:
Open the basket.
CROWD:
LET THE PEOPLE JUDGE!

Then came December 2024.
The market became
the polling station.
The customers became
the voters.
The merchandise
was the record.
And the ballot
became the verdict.
LEAD:
Ghana voted!
CROWD:
THE PEOPLE DECIDED!
LEAD:
The Electoral Commission
declared the result.
CROWD:
THE PEOPLE DECIDED!
LEAD:
And Bawumia went
into opposition.
CROWD:
THE PEOPLE DECIDED!

Sɛ ɛdwa bɛso a—
CROWD:
ƐFIRI ANƆPA!
LEAD:
Morning—
CROWD:
WE SAW THE GOODS!
LEAD:
Afternoon—
CROWD:
WE SAW THE GOODS!
LEAD:
Eight years—
CROWD:
WE SAW THE GOODS!
LEAD:
Time opened the basket—
CROWD:
WE SAW INSIDE!
LEAD:
Now you are coming
back to the market—
CROWD:
WHAT ARE YOU COMING TO SELL?
LEAD:
The same basket?
CROWD:
OPEN IT!
LEAD:
The same merchandise?
CROWD:
BRING THE RECORD!
LEAD:
The same cassava?
CROWD:
WHO WILL BUY?

Sɛ ɛdwa bɛso a...
CROWD:
ƐFIRI ANƆPA!
LEAD:
The morning has passed...
The afternoon has passed...
Eight years have passed...
Time opened the basket.
Now...
What are you bringing
back to the market?
CROWD:
LET THE PEOPLE JUDGE!
LEAD:
Bring the promise!
CROWD:
BRING THE RECORD!
LEAD:
Bring the figures!
CROWD:
BRING THE RECORD!
LEAD:
Open the basket!
CROWD:
LET THE PEOPLE JUDGE!

Market...
Market...
What are you coming to sell?
Who will buy...?
Who will buy...?
Let the people judge...
