Lyrics

DON'T LET A WOLF STEAL YOUR VICTORY
Uncle Fred MUJEMU

My daughter… listen to me.
Your parents struggled to bring you this far.
Your teachers helped you build your future.
You are standing close to your victory…
Please, don't surrender it for temporary pleasure.

He calls you a queen, he praises your face,
He promises heaven, then rushes your pace.
You hide from your parents to meet him at night,
But who will protect your dreams when he disappears from sight?
If he truly loves you, let him come and explain;
Let him face your family and prove he is serious.
Don't exchange years of learning for moments of desire;
Your future is precious—don't play with its fire.

Oh, my daughter, don't throw your victory away!
Don't let a wolf steal your tomorrow today!
Your mother may cry, your father may weep;
Their sacrifices are promises you must learn to keep.
Oh, my daughter, please open your eyes;
Not every sweet promise is love in disguise.
When the tears start falling, when the truth becomes clear,
Will the boy you defended still be standing near?

I speak as a counsellor, with a heart full of care;
I am not here to shame you, but to help you prepare.
Unplanned pregnancy, HIV, emotional pain,
Abuse and abandonment can change your path again.
Not every relationship will end in sorrow;
But protect your health, your studies, and tomorrow.
And consider me a counsellor, a voice in the crowd;
I speak for your future, and I speak this aloud:
Don't let a nursery dropout steal your victory at your watch!
Education alone doesn't make a person worthy or wise;
But never let attraction close your mind and your eyes.
Choose character, responsibility, respect, and direction;
Don't confuse sexual attention with genuine affection.

When your mother cries, who will wipe her tears?
When your father grows silent after all those years?
When your graduation comes, will you stand tall and free,
Or mourn the opportunities you surrendered carelessly?
My daughter, your future is still in your hands;
Think before you follow a boy's demands.
If he is sincere, let him respect your family;
If he refuses responsibility, protect your destiny.

My daughter…
Your parents may not be perfect.
Your counsellor may not know everything.
And a school dropout may still become successful.
But no one should pressure you to abandon your dreams,
Disrespect those who care for you,
Or surrender your future to prove your love.
(Long pause.)
Don't let a wolf steal your victory
While you are watching your dreams disappear.
One day, let your family cry…
Not tears of regret,
But tears of joy
As they watch you graduate
And become the woman you were born to be.
(Soft piano fades to complete silence.)
