(Sweet highlife lead guitar riff starts, conga rolls, bass slides in)
Ayy! Yoh! Munah Dubeka production!
Zambia, are you ready?
To all the teachers, Mufulira to Lusaka, Kitwe to Livingstone!
This is your day!
Mwe bakafundisha, mwaiseni mukwai!, let the rhythm take you!
Sebene! Let's go! Natotela mukwai mwe bakafundisha! (Ayy!)
Nshiku yenu lelo, mulishani! (Yoh!)
Natutootela, natutootela mweeee!
Bakafundisha besu, mulishani!
Mwaiseni, mwaiseni mukwai,
Lelo tulyemo, lelo tuchinde ifwe!
Natotela mukwai mwe bakafundisha!
Bakafundisha besu, mulishani! From the early morning when the sun is rising,
You stand at the board, no compromising.
Writing the lessons, shaping the mind,
The best educators you will ever find!
In the classroom, you give us the light,
Making the future of Zambia so bright.
No boza, this is the truth we speak,
You work so hard every day of the week!
From Copperbelt down to the Southern Province,
Your love and your patience, it makes perfect sense.
So put down the red pen, put down the chalk,
Lelo we dance, we don't want to talk! Natotela mukwai mwe bakafundisha! (Ayy!)
Nshiku yenu lelo, mulishani! (Yoh!)
Natutootela, natutootela mweeee!
Bakafundisha besu, mulishani!
Mwaiseni, mwaiseni mukwai,
Lelo tulyemo, lelo tuchinde ifwe!
Natotela mukwai mwe bakafundisha!
Bakafundisha besu, mulishani! Mayo! Look at the headmaster dancing!
The deputy too, they are all advancing!
Science teacher, English teacher on the floor,
This beat from Congo is making them want more!
Feel the bassline bubbling, sweet and strong,
You’ve waited for this celebration so long.
We praise you for the knowledge, we praise you for the care,
Without you, we wouldn't go anywhere!
So wave your hands up high in the air,
Teachers' Day is here, let's scatter the care!
No more marking papers tonight,
Everything is shining, everything is bright! Natotela mukwai mwe bakafundisha! (Ayy!)
Nshiku yenu lelo, mulishani! (Yoh!)
Natutootela, natutootela mweeee!
Bakafundisha besu, mulishani!
Mwaiseni, mwaiseni mukwai,
Lelo tulyemo, lelo tuchinde ifwe!
Natotela mukwai mwe bakafundisha!
Bakafundisha besu, mulishani! (Sebene! The Congolese guitar goes crazy! Fast-paced rhythm)
Ecolé beats! Ayy! Yoh!
Fally style!
Sungeni ifwe, sungeni ifwe!
Shake it, shake it, bakafundisha!
To the left, to the right!
Ah, dance!
Mayo, the rhythm is sweet!
Feel the drums, feel the heartbeat of Zambia!
We love you, we praise you! You teach us to read, you teach us to write,
You guide us through the darkest night.
A doctor, a lawyer, a president too,
None of them would be here without you!
So let the Kalindula roll and play,
We are celebrating you in a special way.
Raise up your cups, let the happiness flow,
Zambian teachers, you’re the stars of the show! Natotela mukwai mwe bakafundisha! (Ayy!)
Nshiku yenu lelo, mulishani! (Yoh!)
Natutootela, natutootela mweeee!
Bakafundisha besu, mulishani!
Mwaiseni, mwaiseni mukwai,
Lelo tulyemo, lelo tuchinde ifwe!
Natotela mukwai mwe bakafundisha!
Bakafundisha besu, mulishani! Natotela mukwai...
(Beautiful guitar solo fading out)
Yes, our teachers!
Ndola, Kitwe, Lusaka, Kabwe!
We say thank you! Natotela!
Mwe bakafundisha besu, you are the best.
Enjoy your day!
Yoh! Ayy!
(Outro beat drop, final guitar string ring)
Munah Dubeka!
