WE WARNED YOU BEFORE
Aweh, Bontas!
Twenty-eighteen, we shut it down!
Twenty-nineteen, we warned this town!
Now it's twenty-six...
And suddenly it's politics?
Ag, asseblief, man!
Warned you then! (HEY!)
Warned you now! (NURH!)
Know these streets!
We know what's going down!
Lies and politricks!
No spin, no story!
Overcrowded, poor, and ignored!
We warned you before!
Twenty-eighteen, we blocked the road,
Gang wars, drugs, our communities bore the load!
Poverty rising, overcrowding tight,
Violence breeds where there's no hope in sight!
Met with Minister, safety for our kids,
No blood on the sand, no fear where we live!
Demanded patrols, protection, response,
While families locked doors, waiting for dawn!
You heard our cries, then you played your games,
Made empty promises and changed the names!
We know your lies, we know your signs,
Politricks dressed up in polished lines!
No camera crew, no Facebook fame,
Our mothers remember every name!
You make a speech, then disappear,
But the same old violence stays right here!
Warned you then! (HEY!)
Warned you now! (NURH!)
Know these streets!
We know what's going down!
Lies and politricks!
No spin, no story!
Overcrowded, poor, and ignored!
We warned you before!
Twenty-nineteen, objections went in,
Against infill housing planned without listening!
J, K, B, we questioned the plan,
Where are the services? Where do we stand?
More houses packed where the old ones strain,
More people squeezed through broken drains!
Fields for our children, gone from sight,
Roads and schools still nowhere in sight!
No jobs, no space, no future to claim,
Then you act surprised when the violence came!
Poverty breeds the gangs and the fear,
But you only show up when elections are near!
Angus, Angus, press rewind,
January's claims still waiting in line!
Americans, Fancies, turf and drugs,
You knew the warning, you heard the thugs!
Now October rolls in, election lights,
Same old conflict, new political fights!
First it's drug turf, then it's party blame,
Change the headline, but the streets remain!
Warned you then! (HEY!)
Warned you now! (NURH!)
Know these streets!
We know what's going down!
Lies and politricks!
No spin, no story!
Overcrowded, poor, and ignored!
We warned you before!
Who shut it down? WE DID!
Who raised the alarm? WE DID!
Who filed objections? WE DID!
Who warned about the crowding? WE DID!
Who spoke about the poverty? WE DID!
Who knows the streets? WE DO!
Who wants the facts? WE DO!
Stop the lies! Stop the games!
You can't campaign away our pain!
Warned you then! (HEY!)
Warned you now! (NURH!)
Know these streets!
We know what's going down!
More houses, same pipes!
More poverty, more fights!
Gangsters grow where hope gets lost!
Who pays the human cost?
No spin! Just proof!
Our children deserve the truth!
Say it loud!
We warned you before!
Twenty-eighteen, we organised.
Twenty-nineteen, we objected.
Twenty-four, we protested.
Twenty-six, we're still demanding answers.
Stop the lies.
Stop the politricks.
Stop packing people into poverty.
We know our streets.
We know our history.
WE WARNED YOU BEFORE! But you didn't listen
So it time to VOTE YOU OUT!!
