Oh Nigeria my Nigeria
The country of my birth
The dreamland of my forebears
The palace of the blessed.
Endowed with natures beauty
Of wealth and humans alike
Devoid of nature’s wrath and rage
Found mainly in the west.
Is this you I ask Nigeria?
Bathed with blood, greed and hatred
How have you forgotten in a hurry?
What your heroes sacrificed yesterday.
Where are all your natural endowments?
Coveted by a brand of Cain
Your children starve and hunger
In the midst of plenty.
When will you learn Nigeria?
From the deceit of the past
You are deceived by all who have raped you
Like prostitutes alike.
Your children are grown and mature
Education has earned its investment in them
But will these cabals let them see?
The better side of you.
I’ve never doubted your glow
Even as winds of confusion roar
You will flourish, you will grow
You’re blessed by the Gods my country Nigeria.
