(Talking drum rhythm fades in, soft flute melody)
Nna! Make we reason matter small.
Omo, life no be play play.
I bin think say you be correct person
I open my heart give you all the space
I no even check your background before I commit
I just flow like river for rainy season
But now the reality dey hit me hard
You show me pepper when I expect sugar
My eyes dey cry but my heart dey learn
Who I trust no be who I know.
Eye no see, heart no gri, na so e dey be
You no study person, you go swallow the bait
Trust na costly thing, no be for everybody
Make you open your eye before you commit
Nna! Eye no see, heart no gri.
I remember the talk wey you tell me before
How you get plans and how you get dream
I believe the word, I follow your lead
But as time dey go, the mask begin fall
Chai! The disappointment e dey cut like knife
I for know say no be all glitters be gold
I carry my cross, I learn my lesson
No be every handshake be sign of true love.
Eye no see, heart no gri, na so e dey be
You no study person, you go swallow the bait
Trust na costly thing, no be for everybody
Make you open your eye before you commit
Nna! Eye no see, heart no gri.
(Organ swell and soft violin entry)
For Warri side we get one better saying
If you no watch your back, you go fall for gutter
Study the person before you give the key
No be small matter, e be life and death issue
Oya! Wise up my brother, wise up my sister.
Now I dey move with caution for my waka
I no dey rush again like person wey dey hungry
I go watch, I go study, I go use my brain
Trust no be commodity wey person fit dash you
Na work you go work for am, na time you go take
If the vibe no fit, I go find my level
No wahala, I don see the light today.
Eye no see, heart no gri, na so e dey be
You no study person, you go swallow the bait
Trust na costly thing, no be for everybody
Make you open your eye before you commit
Nna! Eye no see, heart no gri.
(Flute solo, fading out with talking drum)
Make you open your eye, nna.
No be every smile be love, chop life but fear man.
Chai! I don learn my lesson.
Eye no see, heart no gri.
