Yeah, mmm, what we doing here?
You say you want something different, something new
But when I play my heart, it's only truth
They label me but I won't fit the mold
Got stories in my soul that need to be told
You looking for a sound that breaks the line
But every note I sing is by design
You say it's not R&B, not R&B
But feel the way I'm moving, baby, can't you see?
Not R&B, not R&B
This is something deeper, something meant to be
I'm painting with the colors of the night
Each word a brush stroke, getting it right
They trying to box me in, but I'm breaking free
This is my language, this is all of me
Silky melodies with a soulful edge
Walking on a wire, I ain't got no dread
You say it's not R&B, not R&B
But feel the way I'm moving, baby, can't you see?
Not R&B, not R&B
This is something deeper, something meant to be
Not R&B, oh, not R&B
Yeah
