Oh, vanity upon vanity
The world moves on, but the heart remembers
Mercy, oh Lord
I look around and the world feels cold and gray
Why does the wickedness hide in the light of day?
When the Prophet TV Joshua walked, we saw the fire and grace
But now he’s gone, silence fills this empty space
Where are the voices that once called out his name?
Now they stand distant, turning away from the flame
It hurts my heart to see the tongues that speak so low
Of the man who showed us where the living waters flow
Oh, why is the world so wicked and cold?
When the truth is forgotten, and the lies are told
Prophet, we remember the path you trod
While others stand in silence before their God
Oh, mercy, mercy, hear the broken cry
Before the day comes when we all must die
Remember Herod on his throne of pride and might?
He thought he’d rule forever, hidden from the light
But dust returns to dust, the scripture remains true
Pastors and leaders, this message is for you
Do you wait for the end before you make things right?
Before you face the sunset and the coming night?
Speak now of kindness, lay the malice on the floor
For God is watching, standing at the door
Oh, why is the world so wicked and cold?
When the truth is forgotten, and the lies are told
Prophet, we remember the path you trod
While others stand in silence before their God
Oh, mercy, mercy, hear the broken cry
Before the day comes when we all must die
Oh, Daddy G.O., oh leaders of the fold
Is your heart made of stone, or is it soft and bold?
Ask for forgiveness, let the pride fall away
Before the judgment comes in the heat of the day
Don't wait for the fire, don't wait for the call
For when the curtains close, we shall stand or fall
Prophetess and Pastor, why the bitter word?
Is this the gospel that the people have heard?
It’s time for a cleansing, a turning of the soul
To let the broken spirit finally be whole
Beg God for mercy, wash the spirit clean
Before the end of all the things that we have seen
Oh, why is the world so wicked and cold?
When the truth is forgotten, and the lies are told
Prophet, we remember the path you trod
While others stand in silence before their God
Oh, mercy, mercy, hear the broken cry
Before the day comes when we all must die
Forgive us, Lord, for the pride within our heart
Let the new life in us finally start
Prophet TV Joshua, you are gone, but the truth remains
Wash away the sorrow, break the heavy chains may your soul continue to rest in the glory of Almighty God rest in perfect peace.
Holy Ghost, have mercy
Amen.
