Yeah, hear the heartbeat of the land
Rise up, reach for a better day
One love, let the truth be heard
Since eighty-two the shadows stayed so long
An aging throne where the melody goes wrong
They changed the book just to keep the seat
While the people struggle on the dusty street
Ninety-two years and the vision is blur
But the spirit of the youth is starting to stir
Oh, we waiting for the change to truly bloom
Before the morning light clears out the gloom
Oh, we need a new day, we need a new way
Let the people decide what they want to say
From the city streets to the mountains high
We looking for a truth that will never die
Oh, Paul, can you hear the crying of the soul?
We need the people to take back the control
Eight million signed but the system is tight
Blocking the path, keeping away from the light
Kamto on the side, technicalities play
While the power holds the keys to the fray
Decentralization is just a hollow name
When the money stays in Yaoundé just the same
Governors appointed, the mayors left dry
How can the nation reach up to the sky?
Oh, we need a new day, we need a new way
Let the people decide what they want to say
From the city streets to the mountains high
We looking for a truth that will never die
Oh, Paul, can you hear the crying of the soul?
We need the people to take back the control
Roads from Douala are still in the sand
While the debt keeps rising across the land
Thirty-five percent, the youth looking for work
In the silence of the offices, shadows still lurk
But Jah bless the dreamer who works for the grain
We wash away the sorrow, we wash away the pain
General, prefect, the party in the hall
One color, one vision, waiting for the fall
But justice is a river that flows for the free
It cannot be dammed by a high decree
We rising in unity, brother to brother
We look for the light, we don't look for cover
Easy now, let the wisdom lead the way
Build a new foundation for a brighter day
Oh, we need a new day, we need a new way
Let the people decide what they want to say
From the city streets to the mountains high
We looking for a truth that will never die
Oh, Paul, can you hear the crying of the soul?
We need the people to take back the control
Rise up, let the voices ring
True democracy is what we gotta bring
One love, for the future we create
It’s never too early, it’s never too late
Jah bless, hear the call, hear the call
Change is gonna come for us all.
