Lyrics

Soft, deep bass begins. Slow piano notes echo in the background.)
MUKUJJU… OUR HOME, OUR HISTORY, OUR BROTHERHOOD.
We came to Mukujju carrying dreams in our hearts,
Believing education would give our lives a new start.
We studied together, preparing to serve,
Never knowing how much life would test our nerve.
Today, some are successful, some are barely getting by,
Some smile before their learners while hiding tears inside.
Some search for employment, some struggle with low pay,
Some teach with empty pockets, yet report to class each day.
Some teachers walk long distances before the morning bell,
Carrying books and lesson plans while hiding struggles they cannot tell.
Some go without a proper meal to keep their children fed,
Some worry about tomorrow while resting on a bed of dread.
School fees are demanding, rent is overdue,
Medical bills keep growing, and family needs are too.
Some support their parents, their children, and their homes,
Yet face these heavy burdens feeling they must stand alone.
Some teachers lack promotion despite years of faithful service;
Some face delayed salaries, discouragement, and nervousness.
Some work without resources, with crowded classrooms to control,
Yet give their very best to every child entrusted to their role.
Some are exhausted by the pressure, some are losing hope,
Some struggle with depression while searching for ways to cope.
Some have qualifications but no opportunity in sight;
Some wonder whether their sacrifices will ever bring a brighter light.
(Pause. Piano continues. Bass remains very low.)
My beloved Mukujju OBs and OGs, wherever you may be,
Do you remember the bond that once connected you and me?
We may have different fortunes, different struggles, different views,
But we share a common history that we must never lose.
If you have found success, remember those still on the way.
If your colleague is struggling, reach out to them today.
A phone call, a kind word, an opportunity shared,
May remind a weary teacher that somebody still cares.
Some of our colleagues have departed, leaving sorrow in our hearts;
Their memories remain with us, though life has kept us apart.
Let us cherish those still living; let compassion guide our way.
Tomorrow is never promised, so let us connect today.
MUKUJJU OBs AND OGs — LET US RECONNECT.
Let our connections grow beyond the classrooms we once knew.
Let us build a bond of kindness in everything we do.
Let success bring us together, let hardship make us care;
Let no colleague feel forgotten, abandoned, or alone out there.
And to everyone who has worked to reconnect our OBs and OGs,
Who has restored old friendships and brought us closer through the years,
Who has taken time to build these bridges and keep our family strong,
Thank you for keeping the Mukujju brotherhood alive and helping us belong.
May our connections open doors, may our friendships never end;
May we remain more than colleagues—may we be family and friends.
(The piano fades. One final, gentle bass note remains.)
MUKUJJU — OUR ROOTS.
OUR COLLEAGUES — OUR FAMILY.
OUR CONNECTIONS — OUR RESPONSIBILITY.
With heartfelt appreciation,
UNCLE FRED MUJEMU
