Asali Hassan
Nigeria my homeland, Borno my state
Chibok is my village, the place where I wait
Oh the soil is calling, the heart knows the way
I’m finding my footing, I’m finding the day
I remember the dust and the heat of the sun
Sitting through shadows until day was done
Living in tension, the struggle was real
I’m speaking my truth, showing how I feel
In a city so hard, where the walls start to fall
I’m standing my ground, I’m answering the call
No peace in the streets, yeah the pressure is high
But I’m looking upward to a brighter sky
Life in this city has lost all its glow
My village is suffering, it’s all that I know
Even the leaders, they hear what I say
Pack up the baggage, we’re finding a way
We’re moving together, we’re taking the lead
Chibok is waiting, it’s all that we need
Carrying burdens, the weight on my head
Looking for comfort, for daily bread
In the end it’s the distance that shows
Where the spirit is light, where the river flows
Through hunger and striving, through fire and rain
I’m leaving the cycle, I’m shedding the pain
Now I understand, yeah the vision is clear
There’s no more room for the doubt or the fear
Life in this city has lost all its glow
My village is suffering, it’s all that I know
Even the leaders, they hear what I say
Pack up the baggage, we’re finding a way
We’re moving together, we’re taking the lead
Chibok is waiting, it’s all that we need
Patriotism is a vow that we keep
Awaking the dream from its long winter sleep
Return to the roots, let the ancestors guide
With courage and honor, with nothing to hide
Chibok is my mother, she’s calling me home
No matter how far or how wide I may roam
Chibok, my home, yeah we’re coming back soon
Under the light of the desert moon
Yeah, we're coming home.
